On the outskirts of Tanga, these girls barely in thier teens look after thier siblings instead of being in school. A common problem in rural Tanzania. Lack of funding means these girls will not have a bright future to look forward to but housework and chores, baby sitting and cooking. Eventually they will be married off in exchange for some cows at a very young age.

Looking outwards to an uncertain future. The child scared, clings onto his mothers Khanga, not sure what lies ahead. This is the reason women in villages like Pangani need to be empowered, to fight against poverty and raise thier children in a positive environment, where they can look ahead at the future with a smile instead of uncertainty.

Buying Mandazi (African doughnut) in Pangani. Children in this village are awake by 5am, cooking the mandazi and selling them for 20 Shs, which is the equivalent of 2pence. They are not educated and have no electricity.
